2018 List

One of the favorite traditions my husband and I have since we began dating is making lists. Not honey do lists, although I do like assigning those to him! Our lists have comprised of various activities and experiences and embodies Living in the Wait.

One of my favorite lists was when I turned 30. We enjoy college sports and watching ESPN, which has a show called 30 for 30. They feature short films/documentaries about sports figures, rivalries, etc. In my husband’s creative thoughtfulness, he made us a 30 for 30 list, complete with a laminated sign to hold up in each of our pictures to commemorate the completion of each item. My favorite experiences were climbing a mountain and running in the rain. Too many to choose from! I had so much fun doing all the activities and enjoyed seeing his heart through the different activities.

With no milestone birthdays this year, he decided we should make a list of 12 items, one to complete each month in 2018. We had plans to start in January, but didn’t get it accomplished. We’ll just add it to another month! The point of this activity isn’t to be stressful or rigid. It’s to enjoy spending time with each other doing new activities and focus on Living in the Wait. Other activities we have listed include:

  • Ice Skating
  • PBR (Professional Bull Riding Tour)
  • Family/Friend Giving Challenge
  • Ferris wheel… and more! I can’t give them all away!

This month, we decided to go snowshoeing. We had just gotten over two feet of snow in the past three days so the trails were perfect for being outdoors. We had a blast! After traipsing around in the pure white snow, I couldn’t help but stop and feel so thankful for life. The snow was untouched and so beautiful.  It reminded me of the verse, Isaiah 1:18 – “Come now, let us settle the matter,” says the LORD. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.

What about you? Do you and your spouse make lists of activities to do together?
