Romans 8:37: No, in all these things, we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.
What thing(s) are you going through right now? As many of you know, my thing is infertility.
Reading that verse you may be thinking, I definitely don’t feel like feel a conqueror right now. I get it. When you are in the trenches of your wait you feel beaten, broken, tired, defeated and hopeless. Raise your hand if you are with me. The last thing on your mind is feeling like a victor. Before dismissing this verse, let’s dive a bit deeper.
Notice first, how the Apostle Paul says, “No, in all these things.” Not just certain things or only one thing, or only your neighbors’ thing or co-workers’ thing, nope in ALL things. To reiterate, the word all means exactly that – everything. The best part is what follows where we are deemed “more than conquerors.” A conqueror is a winner, champion. This means, NO. MATTER. WHAT. thing you are waiting for or going through right now, this applies to you. I think “more than” was included so we know that achieving the status of winner isn’t the end; more than that is available for us. What I love most about this verse is the underlying message so loudly proclaimed, and is something desperately needed for those living in the wait… HOPE.
Even though the very thing we are waiting for may not be happening or arrived, we can still live and be champions in all things at all times. The reason we can, is Jesus. Not because of anything we can do, but because of what He did. We do not need to live a defeated life.
Maybe we should all start wearing a cape and tights (leggings are basically the same thing, right?) to feel like a conqueror despite the outcome. You gotta play the part! Anyone have an outfit I can borrow or maybe I just go watch Wonder Woman. I challenge you to live today and always, as conquerors, because that is exactly what you are!
P.S. Huge Happy Birthday shout out to my mum. She’s my friend, confidant, mentor and biggest cheerleader. I hope you have a wonderful day. The world is definitely a better place because of you.
