Galatians 6:9 NIV – Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
I am excited to share this verse with you because it is the seed I chose to plant in my life. You can learn more about this by reading the Farmer’s Daughter series. This verse really resonates with our infertility journey and I hope it proves to be helpful for whatever you are going through, too.
Not Becoming Weary
Throughout our 3-year journey to get pregnant, weary has been a constant companion. Lately, it’s been heavier in our household. We are tired. Tired of the frustration, disappointment, no answers, doctor bills, etc. Maybe you feel the same way. Jesus knows we get tired, but as the verse continues, He does not want us becoming weary because He has something beyond our biggest dreams waiting for us! That thought alone gives me energy!
Proper Time
The words “proper time” suggest a waiting period before arriving at this predetermined time. If we get there too soon, our hearts won’t be ready. That’s why God determines the proper time for us. We can’t see the entire timeline, but God does, and He knows what we need at exactly the right time. Timing is everything and this verse, and Ecclesiastes 3, A Time for Everything, say it all.
I don’t have the answers as to why the proper time for one person is different than another. I’ll be the first to admit I think this often. I may never know, so instead of spending my time trying to figure this out, I want to rely on this verse to encourage me to patiently wait for the proper time. P.S. I know this is easier said than done!
Do Not Give Up
There have been so many times throughout our journey I wanted to give up. I wanted to stop the roller coaster of emotions, stop the constant reminder of a desire yet to be fulfilled, stop praying and believing God could answer my prayer. But knowing what this verse says about my life and God’s plan for me, encourages me to keep going. The pain, frustration, disappointment and hurt I am experiencing right now, does not compare to the harvest I have coming. I know it is going to be epic. I can’t give up; otherwise I won’t get there, and I do not want to miss out on what God has in store for me. I do not want to waste my wait.
What does it mean to not give up? It’s continually bringing our requests to God. It’s realizing our daily need for Him. It’s living by grace. It’s believing God has a plan, despite what you see or don’t see. It is Trusting God. Period.
God is telling us everything we need to know about our wait in this verse. That’s why I love this verse and want you to apply it to your own life. I created the Galatians Printable for you to download and fill in the blanks with your name. Let it serve as a reminder that God is saying this verse over you and your situation.
