The Immeasurably More Ways of God

Ephesians 3:20 NIV – Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us.

I really needed this affirmation this week…oh, who am I kidding, with our current situation going strong 3+ years, I’ve needed this message every single day!

Ponder for a moment the phrase “immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine.” If God is able to do what this verse states, it means the things He can and will do in our lives are things we can’t even begin to ask or imagine. While we have grand ideas for our lives, God has so, so, so… much more in store for us. What’s possible doesn’t make sense to us because our brains can’t even fathom how BIG and BOLD His ideas are!

Maybe you’re thinking, I’d be happy with more because getting immeasurably more is taking too long. Our God loves us too much to have us settle. He wants to provide the best for us and sometimes it takes longer. Knowing what He is capable us, as difficult as it is to wait, I want the immeasurably more He has planned because I know it will be  better than what I can imagine.

I don’t know about you, but that gives me complete confidence in what God is going to do in my life. It’s SO reassuring and hopeful and because of this, I can truly Live in the Wait. Does it mean my fear, disappointment, grief, etc. are gone? No, they sometimes coexist, but when those thoughts appear, I am better equipped to shift my focus on trusting God to do immeasurably more.

This is when I’m reminded of God already doing BIG and BOLD things in my life.

  • He restored Ry and I’s relationship so we could get married. Our first year of marriage I said many times to him, “Our marriage is more than I could’ve imagined.” God did that.
  • The peace and trust I have in God during our infertility journey is more than I could’ve asked for. God did that.
  • When I was tired of commuting 2 hours a day and looking for a job in the community we lived in, God provided one that was more than I could’ve asked for.

When I stop and ponder these moments in my life, I can only smile. I can smile because I truly know God has done immeasurably more than I could’ve asked or imagined countless times. He’s shown up in big ways throughout my life, which means I can trust Him to do it again with our current situation of growing our family.

How has God has provided immeasurably more than all you asked or imagined?
