January E+DAY

jan_e+day

We’re taught at a very young age to say “please” and “thank you.”  It’s ingrained in our brains when we want something we say please and when we receive it, we say thank you.

In my previous job, I worked for a foundation where saying thank you is the lifeline of the organization. We would send thousands of thank you notes, emails, letters, etc. in response to the generosity of people choosing to donate to our organization whether it was their time, money or talent.

This is also where I learned that thank you is more than a transactional response after receiving something, it’s a way of life. It’s creating a culture of saying “thank you just because” as a form of encouragement and that’s what E+DAY is all about.

My challenge for you is to say thank you just because. Say it because you want to encourage someone without the goal of receiving something in return. Say thank you and share why. It can be as simple as “thank you for being you” or “thank you for believing in me.”

One of my favorite ways to say “thank you just because” is with a hand-written note. If you are looking to receive some encouragement, send me an email or a direct message on social media and I’ll send you some encouragement in the mail.

I want to know how this turns out. Share your story on social media and use the hashtag #thankyoubecause. I can’t wait to hear the impact this makes for the person you say it to and yourself!
