Fight On, Fighter

We all need encouragement. No matter our wait or circumstance, we all need and want someone to come along side us and say the one thing we’re afraid to tell ourselves.

The song, “Fight on Fighter” by King & Country, does just that. This song was written as encouragement for one of the lead singer’s wives, but the message relates to all of us, no matter the circumstance.

“I was there on the day that your world changed
You were scared, unprepared for the heartbreak
Everything you knew faded out of view
Stole a piece of you”

How many of you can relate to these lyrics? For me, they describe our first appointment at the Reproductive Endocrinologist in September 2016. If you’d been a fly on the wall, these words would’ve been written all over my face. My world completely changed the day we were told we had unexplained infertility. I was scared and definitely not prepared, wondering what those words meant for our future. Everything I thought I knew about my future faded out of view and I couldn’t see what it would look like. Many of my hopes and dreams were stolen that day.

“Fight on, fighter
Don’t let anyone steal your fire
Fight on, fighter
The Spirit is alive inside ya, yeah”

“Stronger than you than you ever thought
I know you’re stronger
Braver than you were before
You know you’re braver
Oh, no, you don’t have to be afraid
Together we’ll face it
So don’t ever stop no matter what ’cause you’re gonna make it”

Our story never ends there, friend. There’s always a bigger picture, a purpose and the refrain is where we get our encouragement. It’s our reminder that in the heartbreak, disappointment and hopelessness, God is there. He’s encouraging you every step of the way to keep fighting, keep living. That desire God has given you, to be a mom, to start a business, to have a tough conversation, to tell someone you forgive them; don’t let anyone tell you different. Don’t let anyone take away your fire, including yourself. You are stronger and braver than you think. You have a community, (including me!) cheering you on. Keep fighting for what God is calling you to do. Keep fighting for who God made you to be. Because you can do it.

I’m not sure what wait or circumstance in your life is telling you the opposite of these lyrics. But when that happens, because it will, put this song on repeat and let the truth of what God says bring you encouragement. And ultimately know, you have a community here to support you. Consider this song your triumphant wake up call to start each day.
