1 Year Bloggerversary

One year ago, today, I published, my first blog post, and made our story of infertility and waiting officially public. My purpose for starting Living in the Wait was to be a resource for others going through infertility or any other season of waiting.

I wanted to encourage others that they could make the most of their wait because of what Jesus says in John 10:10 – I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.Podcast Headshot
This anniversary is more than just a number of days indicating Living in the Wait’s existence.

  • It’s about you and the number of ways your life has been changed since following along.
  • It’s about you and the number of ways you have changed the lives of others.
  • It’s about the number of ways you have changed my life.

That’s what this milestone is about. You are the reason this celebration is happening. Your support and prayers have made Living in the Wait what it is today. Words aren’t enough to express my sincere gratitude to you, for choosing to following along and support me and this ministry. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

With that, I’d like to share a letter written to myself highlighting exactly that.

Melissa,

Can you believe it? Living in the Wait is One! You have changed and grown so much in the past year, and I know this blog and the connections made through it, were the catalyst in making that happen. There’s a lot I could say, but more than anything, I’m proud of you.

I’m proud of you for being obedient to God. For listening to Him and taking a huge leap of faith by starting this endeavor. You felt His nudging and went with it. You didn’t know what it would look like one year from now, but you started anyway. High five because I know how much you like to plan every. detail. ahead of time. That was the beginning of a muscle you’d learn to use all year long and will continue to as you embark on your next chapter of motherhood.

I’m proud of you for being brave. Being vulnerable and sharing such a personal and intimate side of your life takes courage. But you knew others going through a difficult time needed more of that, but honestly, I think you needed it just as much. You needed to be vulnerable and authentic to allow yourself to process the feelings you were going through. Throughout the year, I could see baby steps of courage as you began to finally realize, you’ve always been brave.

I’m proud of you for owning your story. I know this is a chapter in your book you never wanted. It’s hard to accept something in your life you don’t want or like. But just because you accept something doesn’t mean you have to like or agree with what’s going on. You learned that once you accept your story it no longer owns you and that changed your entire mindset.

With God’s guidance, you began making the most of your wait. It wasn’t easy and it still involved many highs and lows. But you knew life was meant to be lived to the fullest, and owning your story opened your eyes to this possibility. Once you did, others were able to connect with you and you saw the power of community to provide joy despite having so much pain.

Just remember, somebody, somewhere is depending on you to do what God has called you to do. He wants this ministry, this idea to be just as successful as you do. So, keep stepping out in obedience. You are brave and your story is going to continue to inspire and encourage others. It’s already done that for you.

Continue Living in the Wait,

Melissa
