E+DAY April 2019

Today is extra special as not only is it E+DAY, but it’s also my birthday! With all those reasons to be excited, an added bonus was that this weekend was also Jacks Give Back, a one day service event designated for South Dakota State University Jackrabbits everywhere to give back to their local communities.

As you might remember, last year we were all set to celebrate #JacksGiveBack, but, a blizzard decided to join the party. You won’t believe it, but this year, yet again we were hit with a blizzard, days before the big event. I sure hope mother nature doesn’t continue with this tradition!

Thankfully, we were able to get dug out, and celebrated E+DAY by volunteering with our local Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) chapter. They hosted their Victory Rally with special guest, Minnesota Vikings Quarterback Kirk Cousins. I helped out as a ticket taker. It was awesome seeing so many people at the event to hear Kirk’s message.
3My favorite takeaway was a story he shared when he was a junior in high school. He had broken his ankle and was concerned about his college football prospects since much of the recruiting happens during this time. He was sidelined the entire season due to his injury and was afraid he’d miss his window of opportunity.

He learned from that experience, that when God has a plan for our lives, no set back or circumstance, including a broken ankle, can stop Him from making it happen. It reminded Kirk that in and through his own power he couldn’t play college football. It was God who would make it happen.

My purpose for starting E+DAY was to encourage you to encourage someone else going through a season of waiting or infertility. As I’ve shared in previous E+DAY posts, how we encourage others can come in a variety of ways. You get to decide what that looks like, but the point of this day is to be intentional and encourage someone else. So, who is that going to be today?

Not sure what E+DAY is? Check out this page for more info I know you are curious!
